Transport Cabinet Secretary Fiona Hyslop said the work forms part of the Scottish Government’s wider commitment to enhancing safety and reliability on the A75 – a key route for both residents and freight transport.
“The design phase for potential bypasses of Springholm and Crocketford is progressing well,” she said.
“These are the only two villages along the A75 that haven’t yet been bypassed, and we’re pleased to be moving forward with proposals aimed at improving daily life for people living and working in these communities.”
Hyslop added that the exhibitions later this month offer an important opportunity for the public to engage directly with the plans and help shape the next stage of development.
“I encourage everyone with an interest to attend the exhibitions or review the information online. Feedback from local communities and road users will play a key role in shaping the future of this project.”
The current phase of work is expected to lead to the identification of a preferred bypass route by early 2027.
