InPost UK Parcel Lockers

Parcel locker firm InPost UK launched yesterday (22 April), with the roll out of 100 lockers nationwide and a further 100 waiting for installation.

The firm, which MD Simon Croft said is on target to hit its aim of installing over 2,000 parcel lockers nationwide by the end of 2013, is also in the process of finalising contracts to put 1,000 lockers in place by mid-summer.

InPost lockers, of which 16,000 are already in operation in 17 countries worldwide, allow parcel carriers to deliver into a locker for consumers to pick up at locations all over the UK.

Rafal Brzoska, founder of InPost UK parent company Integer.pl Group, said that the concept also helps parcel carriers to reduce the cost of failed deliveries and cope with the increasing stream of parcels where capacity is becoming an issue.

Croft said: “By offering customers the flexibility to collect at their convenience, we are not only making the customer’s life easier, but are simultaneously enabling retailers and carriers to cut their costs, lower their environmental impact and, most importantly, raise their customer satisfaction levels.”

Croft told Motortransport.co.uk that over 60% of parcels are collected within 24 hours of delivery into its lockers worldwide.
