XPO Logistics has been chosen by B&Q to carry out home deliveries in Ireland and said it would support the home improvement retailer’s ambitions to switch to alternative fuels.
The logistics firm also said it had expanded its central hub in Dublin and was leveraging its delivery network, including in Cork and Athlone, to offer customers reduced delivery times and forward order visibility.
The partnership was announced as XPO introduced the first B&Q-branded electric home delivery vehicle in Ireland.
John Eason, director of B&Q Ireland, said: “Our ambition at B&Q is to help make it easier for our customers to do their home improvement projects, and this includes offering a choice of fulfilment services so that they can get their products when and where they want them.
“With XPO Logistics on board, we’re continuing the enhancement of our home delivery service for our customers in Ireland, giving them speedier and more reliable home delivery options.
“It’s also great to see this partnership advancing our commitment to reduce our impact on the environment with the launch of our first electric home delivery vehicle in Ireland this week.”
XPO senior VP Xavier Bour added that the partnership ensured “focus on the customer”.
