Logistics firm XDP has opened a new depot in Carlisle, marking a ”significant step” in the company’s nationwide expansion, the company has announced this week.
The privately owned company, which specialises in irregular and out-of-gauge freight, has taken on a new 4,941sq ft facility which serves 67 postcodes across north-west England and southern Scotland,.
XDP said the new depot closes a gap in its regional coverage, enabling faster transit times and increased capacity for businesses and consumers in the area.
The investment is also set to boost the local economy, with the new depot creating a number of delivery and operational roles.
The company said further recruitment is planned as volumes increase and seasonal demand grows throughout the year.
XDP added that by establishing a stronger local presence in the Carlisle area, it is better positioned to support growing customer demand while maintaining reliability and service. levels.
