International logistics operator Wilson James has acquired a 26-tonne DAF XD Electric rigid from Fraikin on a five-year contract hire agreement.
The electric truck will transport construction materials from Wilson James’ consolidation centre to projects across Heathrow’s airport estate. It replaces a diesel HGV and was selected following an audit conducted by Fraikin to ensure it was the right fit.
Marta Horawska, HLI operations lead manager at Wilson James, said: “Reducing emissions across our business is a key priority.
“Introducing this electric HGV is another practical step towards that goal. Collaboration has been central to the project, with Fraikin working closely with us throughout the transition.
“It was important to partner with an expert that understood both the technology and our workflow.
“Fraikin’s advice helped us navigate the entire journey, from the initial conversations on vehicle and specification selection, right through to understanding charging infrastructure,” Horawska added.
“The result is a solution specifically designed to our operation.”
