Logistics and e-fulfilment provider Whistl has secured two properties in South Tyneside to support its growing operations.

The group, which handles over 3.6 billion items annually, has signed leases for Units 1 and 2 at The Bulrushes, Boldon Business Park.

The move sees the firm’s North East contact services team relocated from Gateshead to the 10,000sq ft of modern office space.

The deal, brokered by Naylors Gavin Black on behalf of a private landlord, marks Whistl’s second regional site, complementing its existing operations at Follingsby Park in Washington.

Savills acted for Whistl during the transaction.

Garry Wells, Whistl Group property manager, said: “This new site will enable further growth. It’s a great location and is easily accessible for our colleagues who live in the region.”

The ground floor of Unit 3 at The Bulrushes has been let to construction and engineering firm NG Bailey. Three further office units, ranging from 2,765sq ft to 6,465sq ft, remain available for lease.

Chris Pearson, partner at Naylors Gavin Black, added: “Boldon Business Park is a prime location and as popular as ever thanks to its location near the A1 and A19 and continued investment from landlords, including a £5m cash injection this year from UK Land Estates on a host of improvement projects.”

Cllr Margaret Meling, lead member for economic growth and transport at South Tyneside Council, added: “We are delighted to welcome these new businesses into the borough, taking advantage of our prime North East location and commercial property offer.”
