Scottish leasing firm Ogilvie Fleet has acquired Cambridgeshire vehicle renting firm ONWRD in a move aimed at boosting its fleet and customer base.

ONWRD, which was launched 16 years ago, has depots near Cambridge, Northampton and Bedford.

The company leases cars, vans, HGVs and specialist vehicles, through an established network of partners.

Its existing customer base includes organisations operating in infrastructure, building supplies, construction, renewables, housing associations, furniture, marine, and education, complementing Ogilvie’s own areas of expertise.

Announcing the acquisition, Ogilvie Fleet, which has its headquarters in Stirling, said the deal boosts its ability to offer a wider range of vehicles, while creating opportunities to support ONWRD clients with additional fleet services, including contract hire and a broader fleet management capability.

It added that clients of both businesses will benefit from increased flexibility, access to a broader vehicle mix and the combined experience and purchasing strength of the two organisations.

The acquisition also supports Ogilvie Fleet’s ambition to provide tailored solutions for businesses operating mixed car and commercial fleets or managing changing vehicle requirements.

ONWRD will continue to operate with its existing customer-facing teams, to ensure continuity for clients, with day-to-day relationships unchanged. Back-office operations will be supported by Ogilvie Fleet as part of the wider integration.

Ian Bennett (pictured right), Ogilvie Fleet rental director, said: “ONWRD is a strong cultural fit for Ogilvie Fleet. Both businesses share a customer-first approach and a commitment to doing business in the right way.

“By bringing ONWRD into the Ogilvie Fleet group of businesses, we can broaden the range of solutions we offer and better support clients with their diverse and evolving fleet requirements.”

Mark Thompson (left), ONWRD MD, added: “Joining Ogilvie Fleet, a long-established independent leasing provider with more than 45 years’ experience, is an important step for ONWRD.

“The scale, stability and reputation Ogilvie has built over that time strengthens our ability to support clients across a wider range of fleet and mobility requirements, while maintaining the flexibility, service standards and customer focus they expect from us.”
