Truck and trailer equipment services provider TIP Group has acquired Stoke-on-Trent-based trailer refurbishment firm Trailer Auto Group (TAG) for an undisclosed sum.
TAG, which was founded in 2022, operates a modern workshop with 41 bays and a workforce of 105 employees, including 85 mechanics.
Its customer base includes blue-chip companies as well as smaller transport companies.
Announcing the deal TIP Group said the acquisition is in response to growing demand for trailer refurbishment, driven by rising new equipment costs and corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) demands.
The group added that by acquiring TAG, with its expertise in full scale refurbishment, TIP will be able to strengthen its refurbishment services to customers, helping them to minimise operational costs, and reduce environmental impact, whilst saving on the cost of buying new equipment.
Mike Furnival, TIP Group managing director UK & Ireland, said: “Acquiring TAG will significantly enhance our ability to extend the life of our fleet and expand our offerings to both existing and new customers.
“The workshop’s central location will facilitate trailer refurbishment, damage repairs, servicing and MOT preparation.”
TIP said the acquisition marks a “significant” step in its growth.
The company welcomed TAG to the group and said it is committed to ensuring a smooth transition of business operations, maintaining high service standards and preserving TAG’s established local contacts.
It added that it “expects all TAG employees to transition seamlessly into TIP, ensuring continuity and expertise within the team.”
