Immingham-based freight firm Chambers and Cook (Eastern) has closed down after losing its biggest customer accounting for the majority of its revenue.

BK Plus was appointed as administrator of the business on 13 August and it is now handling the haulier’s affairs.

The company operated out of two depots in Immingham and held a licence authorising 20 HGVs and 150 trailers. Its surrender is now under consideration by the office of the traffic commissioner.

It is part of the Chambers and Cook group of companies, but the administrator confirmed to Motor Transport that its closure does not affect any of these other businesses.

In 2025, Chambers and Cook celebrated 100 years in business.

According to its last set of accounts, for the year ending 30 September 2025 it employed 20 staff, including directors.

David Griffiths, head of restructuring at BK Plus, said: “The administration resulted in a shutdown of Chambers and Cook (Eastern) Ltd and does not impact the wider group.

“It had lost its largest customer – circa 80% of turnover – hence the administration.”
