Haydock-based logistics company Law Distribution has created a new position for an HGV training and compliance manager to boost the level of support provided to its team of 40 drivers.
Paul Brennan, former DPD LGV instructor, has been appointed to the role, bringing with him 25 years’ experience working in the transport industry.
He has specific expertise in delivering driver training and ensuring rigorous corporate and driver compliance.
His key responsibility will be to ensure all transport department colleagues are trained to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Brennan will also bolster the company’s compliance, promote safe driver behaviour to reduce incidents and accidents, oversee vehicle servicing in accordance with the Operator’s Licence Agreement and establish a warehouse-to-wheels programme to provide an opportunity for warehouse colleagues to train as drivers.
One of Brennan’s initial priorities has been to secure driver CPC accreditation for the company so that driver training can shortly be delivered in-house, rather than out-sourced, as it is currently.
He will now seek membership of a consortium to use established training modules in advance of creating bespoke plans for Law Distribution.
Commenting about the new appointment, Oliver Robinson, head of transport, said, “As part of our business growth plans, we are investing heavily in new vehicles and trailers, and we wanted to ensure that we also boosted our level of investment in driver training and support, as well as high-level compliance.
“We therefore took the decision to create a new role and we feel very fortunate to have attracted someone of Paul’s calibre and with such relevant experience to our team.
“He is already making a significant impact, building a good relationship with our drivers and securing driver CPC accreditation for the company.”
Brennan commented, “I’m so enjoying my new role here at Law Distribution and relishing the opportunity to establish this important new role.
“The best things are the vision the leadership team has and the people I work most closely with who are supportive and keen to develop themselves in my area of expertise.
“My job will be very much about building a trusted and supportive relationship with our team of drivers who are undoubtedly the company’s frontline ambassadors.”
