FLS Group has appointed Ian Mountford as development director for FLS Forward, with a brief to lead the division’s expansion into the Midlands in response to growing demand.
The Pontypool-based logistics group said the appointment marks an important phase in the Forward Division’s growth and underscores the group’s commitment to scaling its operations in key strategic regions.
Over the past 18 months, the Forward Division has seen a sharp rise in demand from customers operating in and around the Midlands, resulting in increased volume, accelerated response requirements and a growing need for dedicated regional infrastructure, the company said.
The Midlands expansion is designed to meet that demand, providing enhanced capacity, reduced transit times and closer proximity to both existing and newly acquired clients.
Mountford brings more than 35 years of logistics experience across operational leadership, commercial strategy and business development.
Announcing his appointment FLS said: “His background in building and scaling high-performing logistics functions positions him perfectly to drive this next phase of regional growth.
“Throughout his career, he has led major sales divisions, delivered expansion strategies across FTL and LTL transport, and overseen the operational launch of new sites in competitive markets.”
A central part of Ian’s remit will be designing, building and operationalising the new Midlands site, which will serve as a core hub for FLS Forward.
He is tasked with ensuring the site is fully aligned to customer needs, operational efficiency and the Forward Division’s long-term commercial objectives.
This includes developing new service capabilities, supporting talent acquisition in the region and shaping a scalable model that can meet ongoing client demand as volumes continue to rise.
Alongside the Midlands expansion, Mountford will support broader Forward Division priorities including export and import business development, operational performance enhancement and further strengthening of the division’s customer experience.
