GXO drivers working on the Howdens contract in Belshill, near Glasgow, have secured an “inflation-beating” pay rise, according to union Unite.
Around 30 drivers, who deliver Howdens’ kitchens acros Scotland from the GXO distribution hub, are said to have won a record increase, backdated to April.
The one-year deal consists of a 5% pay rise. As all breaks are also being paid, Unite said the agreement is worth a further 5.5%. bringing the overall pay increase to 10.5%.
The union also estimates that the drivers’ overall pay package has increased by up to 30% over the past three years and follows Unite gaining trade union recognition in November 2023.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is another excellent deal for GXO drivers at Bellshill.
“It demonstrates the benefits of being a Unite member as we continue to drive up the standard of jobs, pay and conditions for our driver membership.”
Andrew Brown, Unite industrial officer, added: “The GXO pay deal is inflation-beating and it received the backing of our membership.
“Unite has delivered consistent pay rises over a number of years at GXO which has massively lifted the pay packet for drivers.”
GXO Logistics UK reported a £56m operating profit in 2024, up from £48.7m in the previous year.
A request by MT for comment from GXO has yet to recieve a response.
