Preston-based GBA Logistics has acquired the Silver X Group and Bow Distribution & Warehousing as part of a major expansion drive.

GBA Logistics has operating licences for 143 trucks and 149 trailers and transports a range of goods including aircraft engines, car parts, retail and e-commerce goods, and high-value and hazardous products. It also offers international freight forwarding solutions using both air and sea freight services.

The Silver X Group which is based in Alfreton in Derbyshire, specialises in road haulage, warehousing and pallet distribution. It was launched in 2013 and has operating licences for 75 trucks and 50 trailers.

Its sister company Bow Distribution and Warehousing is also based in Alfreton and has an operating licence for 30 trucks and 30 trailers.The company’s services include storage and transportation of palletised goods, groupage, full load deliveries and is a member of the United Pallet Network (UPN).

Announcing the purchase of both companies, GBA Logistics hailed the two firms as respected players in the UK logistics industry, adding that the move marked a ”significant” milestone in the company’s expansion plans, through which it aims to become a key player in the UK and European markets.

GBA said it intends to keep the brand names of Silver X and Bow, and the existing management teams, led by MD and founder Gavin Burgess. It added that the merged companies will work together to leverage their strengths.
