Mobile People Powered Logistics (Mobile PPL) has recruited Simon Pemberton and Andy Connor as non-executive directors.

The company said the appointments are part of a wider strategy to bolster its market position, and maintain its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and high service levels.

Mobile People Powered Logistics is a transport and 3PL logistics business, based in Birmingham West Midlands and Haddenham in Buckinghamshire.

The company specialises in road transport across the UK and Ireland, e-commerce fulfilment, and storage and distribution. It has a team of over 90 staff and boasts an £18m turnover.

Simon Pemberton joins the board with a wealth of experience from his tenure as chief executive of Gallagher Bassett, a global insurance claims business and part of Arthur J Gallagher & Co, the third largest global insurance brokerage.

Appointed to the Gallagher Bassett UK board in 2010, Pemberton has held a number of positions focussed on growth and delivery, as well as being appointed as UK chief executive and to the international executive in 2018.

During his CEO tenure Pemberton successfully managed and integrated four acquisitions including a regulated law firm and chartered loss adjuster.

Pemberton (pictured right) said: ”I’ve known Mobile for a number of years now and seen the company grow from strength to strength. I think with additional leadership support, the company can grow further and solidify it’s a place among the elite of the logistics sector.”

Andy Connor brings over 40 years of expertise in the logistics supply chain sector, with a history of leadership roles, most notably at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics where he served as chief commercial officer and UK managing director. His career is marked by strategic planning, client relationship management, team building and mergers and acquisitions.

Connor’s achievements include significantly increasing Hellmann’s turnover and securing major contracts with public and private sector clients. At Mobile PPL, Connor will focus on operational strengths, cost structures, market analysis, and strategic planning.

Andy Connor (pictured left) commented: ”I’m delighted to be joining such a unique and forward-thinking people-driven logistics business. I hope that my long and varied career experiences will enable me to add value to Mobile’s fast-growing business.

”I have been impressed by the ambitious Team at Mobile who always have the customers at the forefront of their priorities. I have no doubt that they will transition into a much larger organisation through steady, sustainable growth.”

Announcing the appointments Mobile PPL said the decision to appoint Pemberton and Connor stems from their ”exceptional leadership skills and their potential to attract new business, clients, and investment”.

Their initial focus will be on creating a new board, assessing the company’s market position, and developing a strategic plan to achieve long-term goals.

Matthew Marriott, Mobile PPL MD, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Andy and Simon to our board as non-executive directors. With their extensive experience as former CEOs of global industry brands, they bring a wealth of knowledge and strategic insight to our team.

”Andy Connor with a distinguished career in logistics, and Simon Pemberton with a robust background in the insurance industry, will provide invaluable perspectives as we continue to grow and innovate in the logistics sector. Their expertise will be instrumental in driving our company forward and achieving our long-term goals.”
