Chilled and ambient food transport specialist Langdons has acquired transport and logistics company Long Lane Deliveries in Belshill, Scotland.
Langdons’ parent group STEF said the purchase is part of its wider plans to become a European pure player in the food supply chain, adding that the move will strengthen the group’s geographical reach and boost its services to food manufacturers, retailers, and out-of-home suppliers.
Founded in 2002, Long Lane Deliveries is a family-run group and a long-standing partner to Langdons.
The company specialises in the transport and logistics of chilled, frozen, and ambient food products in Scotland and throughout the UK.
It employs 330 people and has a fleet of 140 vehicles. It operates from two sites in Bellshill, near Glasgow, and Dundee.
Langdons, which joined STEF Group in 2022, is a specialist in the transport of temperature-controlled food products in the UK and a major player in import and export with continental Europe.
The company employs 1,400 people and has a fleet of 750 vehicles at eight sites, including seven in England at Barnsley, Bridgwater, Dover, Luton, Redditch, Peterborough, and Liverpool, and one in Motherwell in Scotland. Each year, it handles almost 2.7 million pallets on behalf of 2,000 customers.
Arran Osman, Langdons MD, said: “We are delighted to be joining forces with Long Lane Deliveries, with whom we share the same colleagues and customer-focused values.
“We welcome an experienced and dedicated staff. Together, we will strengthen our expertise by offering high added-value solutions that will be a major asset in supporting the development of our respective customers.”
James and David Myles, Long Lane Deliveries directors, said: “This is a unique opportunity for the Long Lane Deliveries team to join Langdons and such a strong group as STEF.
“Langdons is the best fit for Long Lane Deliveries as our two companies have complementary businesses and many similarities in the solutions we offer to meet our customers’ needs.”
