FedEx has opened a new logistics facility in Manchester, as part of a relocation of the company’s Manchester operations.
The launch follows FedEx’s recent announcement of plans to open two new logistics hubs close to its Kingsbury / Atherstone and Marston Gate sites by 2029.
The new 38,000sq ft facility facility is half a mile from Manchester Airport. It is equipped with enhanced capabilities for customers and a more modern working environment for team members and includes an advanced automated sorting system and x-ray machines, aimed at increasing throughput, speed, and efficiency, and improve services to customers.
Steve Johnson, FedEx UK air operations MD, said: “The opening of our enhanced facility in Manchester is a significant milestone for FedEx and our valued customers as we continue to advance our freight capabilities in the UK.
“With the rising demand for cargo aviation and the rapid growth of e-commerce, we recognise the need to reconfigure our network to prioritise both speed and efficiency.’
‘’We are committed to setting our customers up for success in what continues to be a dynamic period for trade and logistics.
“We have seen first-hand the positive impact our investment in technological capabilities has had at our Stansted Airport facility for small and medium sized enterprises.
“Our goal is to ensure businesses in the Northwest experience the same benefits.”
