Delivery firm DX Group is opening a new depot in Carlisle and gearing up for further growth after its recent acquisition by US-based private equity giant HIG Capital.

This is the group’s second depot opening this year, following the launch earlier this month of its new depot in Preston, Lancashire. It will replace DX’s depot in Penrith.

The new 9,000sq ft facility is located on Kingstown Industrial Estate, north of Carlisle city centre.

DX will transfer all the current operations at Penrith to this new larger, enhanced site.

The new depot adds further capacity for the group’s parcels operation, part of the DX Express division, which provides highly secure, tracked deliveries to both business and consumer addresses.

DX said the new depot also improves operational efficiencies, reduces stem mileage and carbon emissions, and enhances customer service levels, which it added is a key focus for the group.

It added that its DX Parcels operation remains a major area of growth for the group with further capital investment planned over the remainder of the year to support these plans.

”It will provide our Express operations with greater capacity and increase capability in the area.

”It also helps to make us more efficient and reduces our stem mileage, which in turn will lower our overall carbon emissions. We continue to focus on setting market-leading service standards. 

”We have invested significantly in our depot network over the past few years and will continue this programme across the group, including IT, vehicles and equipment.”

Alternative asset investment firm HIG Capital completed its public-to-private £307m acquisition of DX Group at the end of January this year.
