DP World has boosted its logistics network after taking on six sites from GXO serving grocery customers.
The agreement means the sites, comprising more than two million square feet of warehousing and 2,000 staff, transfer over to the port operator and are a regulatory condition by the industry watchdog following GXO’s acquisition of Wincanton
The locations, five in England and one in Northern Ireland, serve Asda, Sainsbury’s and the Co-op and will transfer over in September. GXO retains the transport operations at the sites.
The agreement expands DP World’s UK contract logistics footprint and will enhance its ability to offer integrated supply chain solutions for customers in the sector.
The six sites involved in the transfer are located in Doncaster, Rochdale, Charlton, Greenford, Wellingborough and Larne.
