DHL Supply Chain has acquired a controlling interest in global e-fulfilment and supply chain solutions company Brandpath Group, which counts Google, ShipBob, Localised, Truly, PRS and Jessops among its fulfilment customers.

The deal, announced today (2 December) sees entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star Peter Jones continue to chair Brandpath Group, with the management team continuing to lead the business, supported by key members of the DHL management team.

Under the partnership DHL will be able to offer an enhanced e-commerce proposition, particularly for small and midsize businesses.

The move also sees Brandpath customers gain access to logistics services across the DHL Group businesses, creating opportunities for mutual growth.

The combination of e-fulfilment solutions with scalable supply chain infrastructure will give eCommerce brands access to a global network for growth, DHL added.

The investment comes as DHL Group continues its drive to expand its e-commerce business, which is a key focus area of the group’s ‘Strategy 2030’.

Saul Resnick, DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland chief executive (pictured left), said: “Brandpath’s proposition is highly compelling in today’s market where new, ambitious eCommerce brands are looking to achieve major global success.

“When you combine Brandpath’s customer focus and flexibility with DHL’s scale, breadth, and expertise, you have a complete and accessible fulfilment solution that enables any eCommerce business to compete on the world stage.”

Peter Jones, Brandpath Group chairman (pictured right), said: “Brandpath was always established to help brands, and our customers drive cross border growth through agile logistics and technology solutions.

“We are delighted to reinforce our strong partnership with DHL and look forward to leveraging DHL’s global capabilities to deliver greater benefit for our customers.”

In its most recent annual results for the year to 30 April 2023, which were published in January this year, Brandpath reported a rise in turnover to £10m, up from £8.6m. However it made a pre-tax loss of £1.1m (2022: £986,430) in the period

The company review of the results said at the time that Brandpath UK was affected by the relocation of its UK Distribution Centre to Birmingham, which was done to ensure better access to carriers and major road systems.

It added that during the period, Brandpath continued to further invest in streamlining its operations and was ”well positioned” for further growth both in the UK and internationally.
