Welsh haulier Delivery Solutions (DelSol) has opened a new modern, purpose-built 21,000 sq. ft. site at Deeside Industrial Park in Flintshire, to expand its overnight parcel operations.
The opening of the new, purpose-built site, follows strong growth for the business, which has recorded a 19% year-on-year increase in overnight parcel volumes, as demand for parcel services across North Wales and Northwest England continues to grow.
The new site - one of four within Delsol’s growing business portfolio - is larger than the previous site in Sandycroft, bringing Delsol’s total warehousing capacity to over 120,000 sq. ft.
It also allows the business, which is part of the APC Network, to separate its pallet and parcels division and expand on overnight parcel services across the region, with opportunities for further growth within its pallet, same day and international delivery, warehousing and storage services.
The company said the new depot is just one part of Delsol’s ongoing investment into the future of its business.
The additional space allows Delsol to meet the increasing demand from local SME businesses for overnight parcel delivery through the APC network, enabling local businesses to reach an ever expanding national customer base.
Kathy Jones, Delsol group chief executive, said: “Delsol celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and the business continues to go from strength to strength.
“As we enter this next chapter, the team and I are incredibly excited to be expanding our business through this new site, providing growth opportunities for our business and all the fantastic local businesses we support.
“We pride ourselves on being the carrier of choice for SMEs in the local area and remain committed to investing in our business to further support our customers, now and in the future.”
The local delivery firm has also invested in a new senior hire for its super depot following significant growth for the business and to better serve local SME customers at a time where high demand for delivery services continues.
Damian Conde has recently been appointed as Delsol’s new operations manager for the Deeside site.
The company said Conde will use over a decade of experience within the logistics sector to lead the team through the next stage of business growth and to continue building and strengthening Delsol’s partnership with customers across the region.
Conde added: “Our announcement today is a commitment to our SME customers, ensuring we’re investing in the business and our people to further improve the service they can expect from us.
“As someone with over a decade of experience in the industry and years of developing my career from a weekend warehouse operative, to van driver, to operations manager, I’m looking forward to joining Delsol on the next phase of growth and welcoming a new generation of talent, providing opportunities for them to learn and grow with the business.”
As part of its investment into the future of its business, Delsol has also committed to supporting long-term sustainability goals, with the new site being powered by solar energy through the use of rooftop panels.
The business has also invested in energy efficient lighting throughout the new site and has introduced four electric forklifts, with further plans to add two electric vehicles to its fleet in the coming months.
Jonathan Smith, APC chief executive, said: “The world is changing at pace, and across our network we are still seeing the strength and determination of our SME customers as they respond to the turbulence of the economy and the evolving needs of consumers.
“Delsol’s continued investment into its business and sustainability initiatives will ensure it is well placed to navigate the continued evolution of our industry; building for future growth, and the growth of customers.”
