Logistics and supply chain management company Dachser has acquired Scottish transport firm Drummond Distribution for an undisclosed sum.

Dachser said its purchase of the family-owned company would strengthen its groupage network for industrial and consumer goods and help connect Scottish businesses more closely to European markets.

The company operates five locations across Scotland’s central belt area between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The acquisition includes more than 500,000sq ft of warehouse space, along with a fleet of around 100 trucks and 80 trailers.

Established in 1927, Drummond has been a Dachser partner since 2008, connecting Scottish customers to its European logistics network.

Dachser said it currently had no locations within the region and so the acquisition would provide it with network coverage without creating any overlap.

It said business continuity would be maintained under the existing management team, led by Damon Burns and as the current owners gradually transitioned out of the business, the management team would report to Mark Rollinson, Dachser UK and Ireland MD.

Burns said: “We have a long-standing and trusting partnership with Dachser.

“We share the same values. The backing of a family-owned company that has been growing for many years provides our customers and employees with a high degree of security and stability and opens new growth potential for the future.”

Alexander Tonn, COO road logistics at Dachser, said its purchase set the course for further growth: “Scotland’s export-oriented industry will benefit from seamless and rapid connections to all European economic regions,” he added.

“We’re also very pleased that Drummond’s employees are now becoming an integral part of our Dachser family.”

In 2025, Drummond generated revenues of approximately £20m and employed around 175 staff.
