Waste management and aggregates specialist Collard Group has bought 40 acres of land near Fareham and strengthened its presence across the south coast.
The company said its acquisition of the Rookery Recycling Facility extended its recycling and aggregates network and would provide an operational base from which to serve customers.
The site also complements Collard’s Nursling site near Southampton and enabled the group to offer more competitive aggregate deliveries and waste collections across the region.
The Rookery is an established aggregate recycling facility which operated from 2003 until it was mothballed in 2020.
Collard Group’s intention is to bring the site back into productive use, with preparations underway to reconnect utilities and install a new weighbridge.
Once reopened, it will initially accept hardcore and soils for recycling, alongside the sale of a comprehensive range of recycled and primary aggregates.
Robert Collard, founder and CEO, said: “The acquisition of Rookery Recycling Facility is an important step in the continued geographic expansion of Collard Group. Its location gives us a strategically important base between Southampton and Portsmouth and significantly strengthens our ability to serve customers across the south coast.”
The acquisition follows Collard Group’s expansion at Eversley earlier this year, where the company acquired a ready-mix concrete and aggregate wash plant and took over the operation of a 40-acre quarry.
