DP World has named Certas Energy its Supplier of the Year for its role in supporting the port operator’s Low Carbon Truck Programme, which has now supplied more than 1.3 million litres of HVO to UK hauliers.
The award recognises Certas Energy’s support during the launch of the scheme, including supplying HVO through its fuel card network and bulk fuel deliveries.
DP World launched the Low Carbon Truck Programme at its London Gateway and Southampton logistics hubs to encourage container hauliers to switch from diesel to HVO, a renewable fuel that can be used in most diesel-powered HGVs without engine modifications.
According to DP World, the programme has allocated 1.346 million litres of HVO to 378 trucks operated by 33 transport companies during its first nine months. A total of 71 hauliers, representing 1,573 trucks, have registered to take part.
The initiative is designed to help reduce carbon emissions from road haulage serving the ports while supporting customers’ wider supply chain decarbonisation targets.
Under the scheme, qualifying operators can receive up to 5,000 litres of HVO per vehicle at each port after completing more than 90 loaded container movements within a three-month period. Fuel can be supplied directly to operators’ depots or accessed through Certas Energy’s fuel card network.
Muhammad Azam, DP World HVO trial project manager, congratulated the Certas team for playing an important role in establishing the programme.
He added: “Your collaboration, responsiveness and commitment have been instrumental in helping us onboard participants and provide access to HVO across the programme.
“We appreciate the efforts made by your team in supporting fuel card setup, fuel supply arrangements and resolving operational queries as they arose.”
Certas Energy supplies diesel, HVO and AdBlue to commercial vehicle operators across the UK and operates its FuelTapp fuel card network, which provides access to its nationwide bunker sites and third-party filling stations.
