David Murray Transport in Angus announced it had closed its doors for the final time after almost 40 years of trading.
In an emotional post on social media, the Carnoustie haulier said the past year had presented the business with many challenges professionally and personally: “The decision to tell our staff was the hardest day ever,” said director Wendy Devlin.
“However, their unwavering support made the redundancy path so much smoother. You have all been amazing – thank you!
“Your dedication and loyalty will never be forgotten. We wish you all the very best in your new ventures.”
The company was founded in 1987 by David Murray and grew to operate 25 HGVs and 55 trailers.
Devlin and husband Gary took over the business following her father Murray’s death in 2011.
In 2010, sister publication Commercial Motor reported that 25 employees at the firm, including the MD, were part of a syndicate that had matched six numbers on the National Lottery and won more than £739,000.
It meant each worker received £29,500.
Devlin added: “To our customers and suppliers, we thank you for the lovely relationships we have formed.
“We will miss your phone calls, visits and banter.”
