Haulier C Butt has hailed its “strong financial performance” after delivering an almost 50% leap in pre-tax profit last year.

The family-run haulage firm, which employs around 130 staff, has depots in Northampton, Lutterworth and Kettering. It specialises in transport, distribution and warehousing and has an operating licence for 130 trucks and 139 trailers.

Reporting its latest financial results for the year to 30 April 2023, the company revealed turnover rising to £18m in the period, up from £17.1m in the previous year, whilst pre-tax profit jumped by 48.7% to £520,041 (2022: £349,526).

In its strategic report to the results the company attributed its performance to “a focus on customer satisfaction, innovation and efficiency” as well as working closely with customers to deliver value added services that “exceed expectations”.

The report noted: “During the financial year C Butt continued to demonstrate a strong financial performance. The group remains committed to financial sustainability and maintaining a strong balance sheet. This allows the group to invest in technology infrastructure and talent to stay competitive in the market.”

It added that the company has stayed resilient in what it described as a “highly competitive and dynamic” sector, which it attributed to its flexibility in meeting customer needs and in being agile enough to exceed their expectations.

“We place significant emphasis on customer satisfaction and retention by offering tailor made solutions, cost effectiveness and reliable services. We have fostered long-term relationships with our clients. Our customer retention rate remains high, underscoring our commitment to delivering quality logistics services,” the report said.

Looking ahead C Butt said it aims to continue its growth trajectory and strengthen its position as a third party logistics provider. It said its key strategies this year include expanding service offerings, renewing long-term contracts with key customers and winning new clients.

It also pledged to continue to invest in advanced technology to improve operational efficiency and data analytics capabilities, strengthen its partnerships to access new markets and opportunities, and to meet its sustainability goals.
