Bradford Council is offering additional “extremely limited” grants to help local transport firms upgrade their fleet to meet its Clean Air Zone (CAZ) standards.
The city’s Euro 6 CAZ has been live since September 2022 and the drivers of non-compliant vehicles must pay £50 a day to enter the zone.
The council said it had worked closely with transport operators and local businesses to help them replace or retrofit their fleet assets and it was now launching a Clean Air Heavy Duty Vehicle (HDV) grant programme, which would give companies a further £1.1m in order for them to comply.
It said applications from small and medium-sized businesses were invited for up to £16,000 and they would be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Bradford Council added that the other grant programmes already in operation remained open for HGVs.
