Bibby Distribution has named Oliever Hecht as its new MD.
Hecht has taken on the responsibilities formerly held by Paul Kavanagh, who stepped down from his role as chief operating officer at Bibby Distribution to join R Swain & Sons.
Hecht joins from the U-Net Supply Chain Consultancy in Berlin, where he was managing partner. He has also held the position of MD at Metro Group Logistics in Turkey and Greece, and chairman of managing directors at secure transport firm Brink’s Deutschland.
He will focus on developing the operator's business in its core sectors, which include retail, automotive, high-cube, food and ingredients.
Hecht said: “I am delighted to join Bibby Distribution, which has a wealth of opportunities to grow and lead the UK logistics market. The Bibby Line Group has a fantastic international heritage and I will ensure that Bibby Distribution plays its part in maintaining and bolstering the Group’s enviable reputation in business to business services.”
The Hub revealed that Hecht joined the company as a director in December.
Meanwhile, Mike Brown, group portfolio director for Bibby Line Group, has taken on the responsibilities of former Bibby Supply Chain Services chief executive Iain Speak. His role incorporates oversight of Bibby Distribution, Bibby International Logistics, Packaging Logistics Services and Bibby Employment Services, which previously fell under the remit of Bibby Supply Chain Services.
