Norbert Dentressangle (ND) has won a new five-year contract with long-term customer Sabic UK Petrochemicals to provide a maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) engineering spares warehousing and stores service.
The logistics giant’s tanker division has worked with Saudia Arabian firm Sabic – which manufacturers specialist plastics and chemicals for European markets – for 15 years providing warehousing, packing, repacking and transportation services at its Wilton International shared-user site in North Yorkshire.
The additional contract will see ND provide a dedicated 18,500ft² storage facility at the site, which will feature new racking, a mezzanine floor and conveyor system, a lay-down area for heavy goods and 6,000 bin locations for smaller items.
ND will manage all inventory via an integrated IT system, with live stock data available to view by Sabic employees.
The new contract goes fully live at the end of July 2014.
MD at Norbert Dentressangle Tankers, Ann Dawson, said: “The increased scope of the supply chain service we provide to include MRO warehousing with agreed KPIs, demonstrates our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers by delivering fully integrated solutions.”
Nick Gilpin, warehouse and stores specialist at Sabic UK Petrochemicals, added that there is a “great deal of work” to be done before the service goes live.
"But we have the right people in place to ensure we meet the 31 July target,” he said.
