Motor Transport, in association with leading transport tech solutions company Microlise, is holding a free-to-watch expert-led webinar at 10.30am on 2 April 2025 to discuss how fleet operators can extend Health and Safety onto the road.

Even with solid strategies in place, what actually happens when drivers leave the depot? How can we do more to ensure their safety, and that of other road users, throughout their journey?

With candid insights from industry specialists, the roundtable will highlight the collective responsibility of regulatory bodies, industry associations, legal experts, technology providers, and operators in advancing safety and compliance within the road transport sector.

Key subjects under discussion will include why bridge strikes, speeding and distracted driving are still far too prevalent, and what strategies operators can employ to manage risk.

The webinar will also cover the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, tips on how to fully comply with London’s Direct Vision Standard, and whether work-related RTAs should be RIDDOR-reported.

A particularly strong line-up of speakers will include Richard Turfitt, senior traffic commissioner for Great Britain; Caroline Hicks, head of regulatory services & transformation at the DVSA; and Jonathon Backhouse, legal director of Backhouse Jones Solicitors.

The panel will also include Microlise director of product, Stephen Watson, who is on a personal crusade to make fleet and transportation management smarter, more efficient and more connected.
