Continental said it was overhauling its tyre line up for general haulage work and offering customers a more simplified range.

Its new Generation 5 Eco tyre, launched at the company’s Hannover HQ in April, will replace the existing long-distance-focused Conti EcoPlus tyre and the Conti EcoRegional tyre for mixed distribution fleets.

Operators will now have a choice of three tyre options, which will support a range of fleet uses.

Continental said the fifth generation Eco tyre would bridge the performance conflict between low rolling resistance and high mileage found in an on-road haulage tyre.

Available for the steer and drive axles, the Eco tyre utilises the latest in tyre design technology and would help operators maximise fuel economy and mileage.

Unveiled in 2022, the Generation 5 Hybrid tyre line is suitable for trucks operating in multiple environments, supporting vehicles operating in regional and inner-city environments, but with the capabilities to perform both on the motorway and off road.

Continental also offers an EfficientPro tyre, which achieves low levels of rolling resistance for truck manufacturers.

Grant Willman, Continental sales director, said: “Each tyre offers an exceptional mix of durability and performance to better meet the diverse needs of our operators.

“When combined with our ContiRe and Bandvulc retread ranges, and tyres from our other brands, such as Uniroyal, Continental undoubtedly has one of the most capable product portfolios on the market today.”
