More than 100 staff at a Ledbury-based haulage company have lost their jobs after it entered administration this month.

Grant Thornton was appointed on 8 October to take over the affairs of WSH Logistics, which also has a distribution hub in Hull.

The company employed 107 staff with the majority being made redundant immediately following the administrator’s appointment.

A small number of employees have been kept on to help wind down the business.

A spokesman for Grant Thornton said: “Stephanie Baker and Alistair Wardell of Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP were appointed joint administrators of WSH Logistics, a transport and logistics business headquartered in the Midlands, with an additional depot located in the North East.

“The appointment follows a period of financial difficulty and despite efforts to explore and attract new investment, without immediate additional funding or the ability to explore alternative options, the company was placed into administration and has ceased trading following the appointment.

“The joint administrators are now overseeing a wind-down of the company’s operations and are engaging with stakeholders to manage the process.”

WSH Logistics held two international operator licences; one in the West Midlands where it operated a total of 60 HGVs out of two Ledbury bases and one in the North East, where it had permission to run 15.
