Menzies Distribution is replacing half of its 240-strong LGV fleet with 110 Euro-5 Ivecos, on hire from Ryder.
The trucks, which have been taken on under a five-year contract hire deal, range from 6.5-tonnes to 25-tonnes and will be delivered in batches throughout this year and into 2014.
A further 16 LGVs, including 44-tonne GVW tractor units and matching trailers; 26-tonners; and 18-tonners, are being converted to a four-year contract hire agreement after they were taken on long-term rental.
Menzies transport and logistics manager Allan Hughes, said: “We look forward to a mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Ryder, which will involve the provision of, and fleet management for over 120 vehicles in 2013 and 2014. Ryder has invested a great deal of time and effort into understanding our business and what is important to Menzies Distribution.”
The trucks will all be fitted with telematics system Microlise to help it monitor fuel consumption, delivery schedules and driver performance. Ryder will be working with the operator to ensure the system is being used to its full potential.
