Menzies Distribution has opened a dedicated newstrade logistics hub in Inverness following a number of major contract wins this year.
The company said the move is part of a wider strategy to improve its newstrade logistics capabilities after landing a series of newstrade deals.
Major wins this year include a magazine sales and distribution contract with Frontline Group and a five-year national contract with Newsprinters, both of which were announced last April, and an agreement with British Airways (BA) in September to deliver more than 530,000 newspapers and magazines to the airline's airport flight gates and lounges across the UK.
The move to the new facility in Inverness sees Menzies Distribution’s newstrade operations relocate from the company’s current site in the town which it shared with the firm's parcels operations.

The company said the move will provide dedicated support for newstrade operations, to meet its just-in-time delivery deadlines.
Menzies Distribution, which operates a network of 65 depots, currently distributes around 30 million newstrade products a week and makes more than 25,000 retail drops each day.
Mark Cassie, operations director at Menzies Distribution said, “We are delighted to announce the opening of our new newstrade logistics hub in Inverness which will provide around the clock, against the clock services to our newstrade customers. We are committed to supporting our publishers and retailers and remain committed to ensuring a sustainable route to market.
