FTS Group, which includes Hertfordshire hauliers Forward Trucking Services and Stand & Deliver Transport, has completed a management buyout (MBO) after its previous owners left the business.
The group has been acquired by Pantrad, owned by FTS Group MD Peter Samuel and it will continue to operate under its current name and subsidiary structure, which it said would ensure a seamless transition for clients, employees and partners.
In a statement, the group said previous owners Stephen and Jane Mackay left the business on 29 October 2024.
Samuel said: “We are thrilled to take this next step in the FTS Group’s journey.
“This buyout allows us to further align our strategic vision with the needs of our clients and the market. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and remain dedicated to our mission of changing the way people perceive hauliers; it’s about the future and not the past.”
Licensing records show that Forward Trucking Services operates 45 HGVs out of Hertfordshire and East Anglia bases, as well as depots in the south east and west of England.
Stand & Deliver meanwhile runs 30 lorries out of a St Albans operating centre.
The group also includes FTS Logistics, FTS Commercials and FTS People.
The MBO was supported by Mint Asset Finance and backed by Close Brothers Asset Finance as well.
“We are confident in the management team’s ability to lead the FTS Group into its next phase of growth,” said Henry Crame, banking division at Close Brothers.
“Their deep industry knowledge and proven track record make them the ideal leaders for this transition.”
Simon Pittuck, MD at Mint Asset Finance, added: “We have worked with Pete and his team for many years; he is one determined and driven individual who I am confident will navigate the current troubled waters of the haulage sector.”
