Knowles’ group company Masters Logistical has signed a three-year contract with British Sugar, building on its longstanding partnership with the manufacturer.
The new agreement sees the 3PL continue as a key logistics provider, managing nationwide warehousing operations for the firm.
Mark Stoodley, Masters Logistical MD, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the journey we’ve been on with British Sugar.
“This isn’t just a contract renewal—it’s a reaffirmation of our shared values and our dedication to delivering the highest standards of service and innovation.”
Originally established in 2018 as a short-term warehousing solution during a major automation upgrade at British Sugar’s Wissington factory, the collaboration has evolved into a critical part of the sugar company’s supply chain.
Masters has handled more than one million pallets, over five times the original forecast, as part of a fully integrated warehousing and distribution service.
As part of the new contract, Masters will introduce two Volvo FM 5 electric trucks into its fleet, which will be used for the shunting operation from the factories in Wissington and Bury St Edmunds to the Masters distribution centre.
“Sustainability is an on-going journey,” added Stoodley. “Introducing electric vehicles is just one part of our broader strategy to deliver efficient, responsible logistics without compromising service or efficiency.”
Group MD and owner Alex Knowles said: “British Sugar is a very important customer to Masters and across the Knowles Group. This extension marks an important milestone in furthering this relationship.
“Investment in electric vehicles and enhanced customer IT integration are areas of which Knowles is at the forefront and it’s great that Masters are now on fully aboard on this journey in offering best-in-class 3PL solutions to customers.”
