Delivery and logistics firm M&H Carriers has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to inclusivity, securing the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award at the inaugural Scottish Impact Awards 2025.
The award, presented in the category for organisations with over 250 employees, celebrates the company’s work to make the logistics sector more inclusive and welcoming for individuals of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages.
Managing director Fraser Maclean commented: “This award means so much to our team. It’s a recognition of everything we stand for – giving people opportunities, supporting them into meaningful work, and turning intention into action.”
Over the past 18 months, M&H Carriers has embedded inclusion deeply into its operations. Every depot manager and supervisor has completed Equality Act 2010 training, equipping them to foster respectful and equitable workplaces.
Human Resources initiatives have also facilitated open conversations around conduct, professional boundaries, and creating a workplace culture where colleagues look out for one another.
These efforts are more than just policies – they’re making a tangible difference across the company’s depot network.
When deaf employee John Montgomery needed better communication tools, M&H implemented Sign Live technology, allowing seamless interactions with colleagues and managers.
New employees Bailey Griffin and Josh Flaherty – both autistic and new to full-time work – were supported through patient onboarding, one-on-one mentoring, and regular check-ins to help them build confidence and find their footing in the business.
All three team members were recently profiled in Transport News by freelance journalist Jack Carfrae.

The company has also taken steps to improve access and fairness for younger workers – paying under-18s the same hourly rate as staff aged 23 and over – and to boost female representation in leadership roles across departments like HR, Compliance, Finance, and Customer Service, as well as on the warehouse floor and behind the wheel.
M&H’s 456-strong workforce includes staff from more than 10 different nationalities, with the company using multilingual signage, simplified onboarding materials, and hands-on support to ensure all employees feel welcome from day one.
Reflecting on the award win, Fraser said: This industry can be tough, and we often focus on what needs to improve. But seeing John, Bailey, and Josh on stage, surrounded by the people who’ve helped them thrive, was a truly proud moment.
“Yes, the evening had its unexpected moments – the kind that make you laugh, keep you on your toes, and remind you why diverse teams are so special. It was unforgettable.”
Looking ahead, M&H is planning new initiatives focused on mental health and resilience, aiming to take its inclusion work even further. Fraser also issued a call to action for others in the industry.
“This is bigger than just us. The logistics sector has a real opportunity to open its doors wider – to young people, to women, to those who may not feel this industry is for them. If we put people first, we don’t just build stronger companies – we help shape better futures.”
