MAN has developed a “rolling laboratory” for Covid-19 testing, based on a TGE van capable of carrying out more than 500 tests a day.

It said the vehicle could be used to conduct tests directly on site if infections were suspected, including at care homes, schools or company premises.

Two different vehicle designs are available: a standard wheelbase at 3.5-tonnes and a 5.5-tonne long wheelbase.

PCR test results are available within 39 minutes, MAN added.

The mobile MAN coronavirus test vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with 177hp.

All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox is optional and as well as a MAN Telematics box to enable internet access, other equipment options include a closed awning for swab tests, LED emergency light and a 400-litre swivel and rollable waste box mounted to the trailer coupling.
