Logistics UK has announced the appointment of Alexandra Herdman (pictured) as a public policy manager.
She has spent the previous five years working in the Scottish Parliament, which the trade body said had given her a wealth of relevant knowledge and expertise.
“We are thrilled to have Alexandra join our team," said director of public policy, Elizabeth de Jong. "As the business organisation representing the logistics industry, we pride ourselves on our diversity, representing members from road, rail, air and sea.
"Alexandra will be a fantastic addition to the policy team, helping to grow Logistics UK’s influence of multimodal policy, as well as focusing on the skills agenda and current driver shortage crisis. Logistics UK is always looking to deliver more for its members and Alexandra’s appointment allows us to do just that.”
In addition to working as a senior researcher at the Scottish Parliament, Herdman has a BA (Hons) in British Politics and Legislative Studies, as well as an MSc in Global Challenges, where her studies included decarbonisation, a key focus for the industry.
“I am thrilled to be joining Logistics UK," she said. "This is an incredibly important time for the logistics sector as it faces challenges such as decarbonisation, Brexit, the driver shortage and Covid-19 recovery. I am delighted to be joining such a reputable team and look forward to working with colleagues, government, key decision makers and members to create positive outcomes across industry.”
