Lloyd Fraser Group has placed a 55-truck order with rental firm Ryder following a major 3PL contract win with an undisclosed fashion retailer.
The order comprises 45 rigids – 16 Daf LF 7.5-tonners and 29 CF 18-tonne box trucks – which will be used on multi-drop delivery work, as well as 10 Renault Premium 44-tonne tractor units, which will be used on overnight trunking runs to the company’s five hubs.
Ryder won the contract following a competitive tender, and Lloyd Fraser says service levels, reliability and ability to handle short-notice peaks in demand were all key factors in choosing a rental provider.
Catherine Sharp, Lloyd Fraser’s divisional director says: "The nature of the fashion business is such that demand is constantly fluctuating. We often get additional vehicle requirements thrown at us late in the day."
Ryder’s focus on vehicle load security was also an influencing factor, with Lloyd Fraser’s trucks fitted with high security slam locks due to the nature of city centre multi-drops.
