Linkline Transport has opened a purpose-built warehouse facility in Wellingborough as part of a £15m expansion programme.

The Fortec member has also revealed plans to open a further two Linkline depots in Manchester and London Gateway in the next two years.

The new hub includes 137,000sq ft of warehouse and distribution space and provides the company with a third UK location, bringing overall capacity to 240,000sq ft.

It will be serviced by two new SDC Freespan curtainsiders supplied by Hertfordshire based rental firm Trailer Resources Limited (TRL), increasing daily operations across the UK and into Europe.

James Bowes, commercial director at Linkline said: “This investment is the first phase of a strategic plan to expand our UK distribution channels. Our new warehouse in Wellingborough is conveniently located less one mile from our current facility and together with our new curtainsiders, it will enable us to increase capacity and logistics services to meet the demand from key customers.”

The pictured trailers are built as a ‘special’ in line with the celebration of the new site and specified by TRL according to Linkline’s requirements.

They provide a clear side aperture for ease of loading and floor space for 26 pallets. With an EN 12642-XL rating, the model has been independently assessed to conform with TUV Nord’s reinforced body standard, benefitting load containment and compliance.

Another key feature of the Freespan is its five-star easy-roll technology, the company said. The colours on the company's green livery have been flipped to promote the new premises. They are the only two trailers in the fleet with this livery and help celebrate a new chapter in Linkline’s growth.

Bowes praised the operator's partnership with TRL, who supply and manage the fleet on a rental and fleet maintenance contract.

“Trailer Resources Limited is our preferred supplier and I would like to thank them for the excellent and cooperative collaboration," he said. "They are a like-minded family business and we share similar values of trust and reliable customer service which have supported our business operations over the last seven years. They have an excellent understanding of our trailer requirements, and their comprehensive fleet maintenance services have provided unwavering support for our operations.”

Established in 1994, Linkline offers complete logistics solutions from general haulage and storage to more specialist ADR transport services. The company has a fleet ranging from small vans to 44-tonne articulated lorries.
