German manufacturer Kögel Trailer and Horizon Trailers have signed an exclusive distribution partnership for Ireland and the UK.

Dublin-based Horizon Trailers, which was founded in 2024 and is led by a team with decades of experience in the market, will exclusively distributes Kögel’s high-quality trailers in Ireland and the UK.

Kögel Trailer is one of Europe’s largest trailer manufacturers, producing around 16,750 trailers a year and employing approximately 1,400 staff across nine countries.

The partnership deal aims to establish the Kögel brand in both ireland and the UK and build a strong sales and service network.

It will initially focus on market entry in Ireland, but will also aim to build its presence in Great Britain, as part of Kögel Trailer’s wider goal to expand in Europe.

The partnership’s medium term goal is to gain a market share of at least 10% in Ireland and the UK.

To achieve this goal, Horizon Trailers said it is planning to build up a comprehensive dealer and service network to ensure optimum customer support.

The partnership will also focus is on key sectors such as international and national goods transportation, particularly in the areas of pharmaceutical, agricultural and food logistics.

The product portfolio includes Kögel refrigerated vehicles as well as Kögel box and curtainsider trailers.

Thore Bakker, Kögel Traile chief strategy officer, added that the partnership with Horizon Trailers underlines Kögel’s strategic focus on strengthening its presence in the European market.
