Commercial real estate investor Hillwood and building contractor Glencar have officially broken ground and commenced works on-site at Hillwood Park Luton.
The major new 284,575sq ft speculative industrial and logistics development is located in Sundon Park Industrial Estate in Luton.
Once complete, the 16 acre development, which is close to junction 11a of the M1, will feature eight high-specification, Grade-A warehouse units, ranging in size from 14,251 to 79,975sq ft.
Hillwood said the project has been designed to meet the rising demands of modern manufacturing, distribution, and e-commerce occupiers.
The scheme will incorporate an array of carbon-reduction and wellbeing-led initiatives intended to maximize long-term operational efficiency for future occupiers, with Hillwood Park Luton targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and an EPC A rating.
Greg Dalton, Hillwood UK vice president, said: “Breaking ground at Hillwood Park Luton is an exciting milestone for the scheme as well as our expanding UK pipeline.
“Glencar continue to prove to be an reliable, hands-on delivery partner for us, and this third appointment is a testament to the trust we’ve built.
“There is a clear, sustained demand for highly sustainable Grade-A logistics space nationally and this this strategic Luton corridor is well-placed to satisfy this demand.
“We look forward to seeing the site progress.”
Peter Goodman, Glencar MD Midlands and North, added: “We are delighted to officially mobilize on-site and celebrate this start-of-work milestone with Hillwood.
“Our early engagement on Hillwood Park has allowed our technical teams to optimize buildability, ensure program certainty, and embed sustainable practices from day one.
This project is a fantastic addition to our industrial portfolio, and we are committed to delivering it safely, efficiently, and to the exacting standards that modern occupiers expect.”
