Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland has named Simon Villanueva as its director of new truck sales with a brief to drive growth.
Villanueva brings 15 years of experience at Volvo Group to his new position, including 13 years spent as its legal director.
His most recent post at Volvo Trucks was as legal director for Europe South & West, covering markets including the UK, Spain, France and Italy.
For the past two years, he paired that role with overseeing Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland’s public affairs.
Villanueva will lead the company’s new truck sales and all related product and customer support activities. He will report directly to Christian Coolsaet, Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland managing director,
Commenting on his new role, Villanueva said: “I am incredibly proud to take on this position at such an important time for the business. Having spent many years working across the Volvo Group, I have seen first-hand the strength of our people, the depth of our customer relationships and the clear direction of our long-term strategy.
“Stepping into the sales organisation gives me a new perspective on how we are supporting our customers as they navigate change and invest with confidence in their fleets. There is a strong foundation already in place, with a highly capable team that understands the market and consistently delivers for our customers.”
Villanueva takes on his new role with the business in good health. Volvo Trucks led the way in UK tractor unit sales in 2025, with its spike in registrations spearheaded by the ultra-fuel-efficient FH Aero range.
The manufacturer also secured strong results in overall heavy truck registrations in 2025, ending the calendar year as European market leader with a share of 19.0% – up from 17.9% in 2024.
“The future for Volvo Trucks is full of opportunity, and I am looking forward to playing my part in continuing this growth and shaping the next chapter,” Villanueva added.
