Webfleet is expanding its OEM.connect partner programme to trailers in a move which sees Schmitz Cargobull become the first trailer manufacturer to join the programme.
Commercial fleet operators can now connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers with Webfleet via factory fitted telematics, eliminating the need for aftermarket hardware installations.
This development gives operators access to trailer data to boost trailer utilisation, reduce downtime and improve overall safety and security.
Webfleet, which is Bridgestone’s fleet management solutions provider, said it has plans to extend the programme to other trailer manufacturers in the future.
Taco van der Leij, vice president of Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, said: “Trailers are the backbone of long-haul goods transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be challenging.
‘“Making our proven Webfleet Trailer solution now easily accessible via OEM data, will help even more businesses with real-time data insights and actionable intelligence maximise trailer performance.
“We are happy that we are collaborating with Schmitz Cargobull, offering our customers seamless integration with Europe’s leading semi-trailer manufacturer.”
Commercial fleet operators can connect their trailers to the Webfleet platform via the Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect telematics portal with their VIN number.
By utilising the factory-fitted telematics there is no need to install any additional hardware, saving costs and time.
Webfleet said customers benefit from advanced Webfleet features, which range from monitoring trip details and location to maintenance and safety monitoring, as well as payload, tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS) and temperature data.
Sören Danielsen, Schmitz Cargobull strategy and business development manager, added: “With the TrailerConnect Data Management Center from Schmitz Cargobull, hauliers have full control over their data and can pass on selected data to third parties in an efficient way.
“By intelligently linking information on the vehicle, tour and order, more than just position and temperature data can be selected, processed and transmitted to third-party systems at the touch of a button in future.
“The TrailerConnect Data Management Center stands for connectivity and transparency. Everyone involved along the supply chain benefits from this.”
