Global logistics consultancy SCALA is driving for growth in Europe after experiencing an influx of enquiries from European businesses in recent months, as global supply chain instability continues to impact retailers, manufacturers and 3PLs.
To lead the charge, Chris Clowes who joined SCALA over a year ago as a senior consultant, has been promoted to executive director.
In his new role he will be a key driver of SCALA’s long-term strategy to expand its remit in Europe. This will include identifying new client bases and increasing SCALA’s European network of experienced consultants that can provide a diverse base of expertise.
Since working with SCALA, Clowes has already managed three major projects including European strategy development for a German-based consumer products company, logistics strategy and 3PL tendering for a pan-European electronics business, and a customer ‘cost to serve’ project for a major food company.
Clowes has held previous operational roles at XPO, Boots Retail, Walgreens Boots Alliance, and Costa Coffee.
John Perry, SCALA chief executive, added: “Supporting businesses with their European supply chain strategy is certainly a growing business area for us. As we continue to advance SCALA’s offering and hone our long-term strategy, committing more resource to our European offering felt like a no brainer.
”With Chris on board, the executive director team is well equipped to refresh and strengthen the SCALA offering to ensure it continues to prosper in years to come. Since working with us, Chris has already proven that SCALA’s growth is important to him.
”He has brought new thinking and challenged the team to think outside of the box. It’s a very exciting time for SCALA and we’re glad to have Chris on board.”
Chris Clowes commented: “In just over a year, we’ve already been able to deploy real-world experience to support some of the best brands in Europe.
”Growing our European client base and diversifying our consultancy skills will be key goals as I take on a more strategic role within SCALA.
”We have already made progress in expanding our European services and look forward to spearheading its growth as we invest more time and resource into European consultancy.”
