PD Industrial has completed a pallet racking installation at a new 1 million sq ft logistics facility in Nuneaton.

The project, which began at the end of March and finished in early June, was completed over nine weeks at the warehouse developed by Baytree (AXA) and built by Glencar.

The project included the installation of 468 bays of pallet racking, providing more than 13,500 pallet positions.

The storage system includes 11,112 pallets across 5,556 double-stacked locations and a further 2,466 single-stacked pallet locations.

As part of the installation, PD Industrial also carried out floor grinding to achieve the tolerances required for very narrow aisle (VNA) operations, installed wire guidance systems for VNA trucks, integrated sprinkler pipework within the racking and completed warehouse racking labelling.

PD Industrial acted as both Principal Designer and Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, managing the warehouse fit-out and installation.

Darren Hardiman, PD Industrial MD, said: “Delivering over 13,500 pallet positions in just nine weeks requires precision engineering and tight project management and is a significant undertaking.

“Working within a world-class, award-winning building allowed us to showcase our ability to deliver high-density, safe, and highly efficient warehouse environments ahead of schedule.

“With the handover complete, the facility is now fully optimized and operationally live. I would like to congratulate the full project team for the exemplar nature of the works delivered.”

PD Industrial, which was established in 2009, provides warehouse storage systems, including the design, installation and maintenance of industrial racking.
