There has been an overall reduction in the total number of vehicles in transport and distribution covered by Motor Transport’s fleet data.

Analysis of fleets over 20 trucks found there were now 390,243 trucks specified on O-licences, down 1,063 on last month.

The number of trailers has also fallen to 309,866, from 311,717 in September.

Notable fleet reductions included DPD, whose fleet decreased by 556 and TIP Trailer Services which reduced its fleet by 1,339. XPO’s assets reduced by 123 to 8,970 HGVs and trailers specified on its operator licences.

At the other end of the scale, the data showed that Woodside Logistics Group increased its fleet by 188 to 559 trucks and trailers and Farmfoods Distribution grew by 108 to now have a total of 609 vehicles specified.

Fleet Data is Motor Transport’s listing of the UK’s largest third party and own account HGV fleet operators. Based on the weekly O-licence updates issued by the office of the traffic commissioners, Fleet Data enables subscribers quickly to identify operators in each of the eight traffic areas based on the number of vehicles on the licence and type of operator.
