Taking place at Millennium Point on 8 October - in association with event partners RHA and ViGo Bioenergy – the Summit will open with a video address from transport minister Simon Lightwood MP, followed by a keynote speech from RHA managing director Richard Smith.
Operators, vehicle manufacturers and infrastructure providers will examine the commercial and regulatory conditions required to move zero-emission HGVs beyond trials and into mainstream fleet operation.
Under the theme ‘From ambition to implementation: delivering practical decarbonisation’, sessions will focus on the issues that matter most to hauliers: vehicle affordability, charging and refuelling infrastructure, operational confidence and commercial viability.
A dedicated industry panel will assess progress over the past 12 months and identify the actions needed from government and the freight sector to support fleet investment.
Further sessions will examine regional and European approaches to freight decarbonisation, a first look at the latest findings from the government-backed ZEHID programme and the technology choices facing operators.
The conference will close with a live Motor Transport discussion on what must happen over the next five years to deliver a competitive, productive and decarbonised UK road freight sector.
RHA managing director Richard Smith said: “The debate now needs to move from ambition to delivery. Operators need the infrastructure, policy certainty and commercial conditions that allow them to invest.”
The Motor Transport Decarbonisation Summit will be held at Millennium Point, Birmingham, on Thursday 8 October. There’s also an optional study tour on 7 October at TEP Birmingham, in association with event partner Voltempo Group, providing access to a range of technology experts.
