IVECO’s 44 tonne IVECO S-Way 500 CNG 6x2 is making its debut at 2025 Road Transport Expo (RTX) today (24 June).
Designed and developed in secret, the one-off IVECO S-Way CNG Force of Nature isn’t the only star of the IVECO stand (B32) at the 2025 Road Transport Expo, which opened today.
In addition to this attention-grabbing vehicle, other headlines include the UK public debut of the all-electric IVECO S-eWay, the eDaily ‘Box Clever’ equipped with an ePTO-powered VR truck racing simulator, Eurocargo CNG, X-Way, as well as the flagship IVECO S-Way 580.
The aerodynamic bodywork of the IVECO S-Way 500 CNG 6x2 sports a hand-painted design that symbolises the disruptive spirit of this alternatively-fuelled vehicle. IVECO said the design was created to strike a chord with true truck enthusiasts.
Beneath the vivid green splashes and glossy black exterior is an xCursor 13 engine which produces 500hp, allowing the vehicle to operate at long distances while reducing emissions.
Its eight CNG tanks are positioned within the chassis to allow for maximum trailer lengths while storing enough biomethane to cover in excess of 500km – a characteristic alluded to via the truck’s personalised registration – X8 CNG.
The interior has a range of features including contrasting embroidery and design elements, heavy use of Alcantra, bespoke bedding, matt black surfacing and optional rear storage cupboards.
Its customisable digital driver’s display and 10-inch infotainment system host the same graphics and functionality found across the new Way range.
Aerodynamic MirrorCams boost visibility beyond traditional mirrors, and also deliver a fuel-saving benefit of up to 1.5% thanks to reduced drag.
The new High Performance Engine brake is now 30% more effective and is capable of substituting the retarder in most mission scenarios, granting better efficiency.
Additional savings are yielded from the advanced Predictive Cruise Control that utilises topographical data to optimise vehicle running and eco tyres with low rolling resistance.
IVECO business line director, Mike Cutts said: “The reduction in emissions across fleets is a serious business, and so this statement-making vehicle represents much more than a bespoke show truck.
“Underpinning this vehicle is the same unmatched IVECO S-Way CNG 6x2 that is revolutionising renewable fleet capabilities. It’s a product we are proud of, and clearly one that is worthy of an attention-grabbing persona.”
