Warehouse repair specialist Goliath has secured the largest deployment of its pallet racking repair system in the UK and Europe, with almost 600 units to be installed at a logistics distribution centre in Lowestoft.
The project will see 597 XL Goliath repair units fitted to extra-heavy-duty pallet racking uprights that have been damaged by forklift operations.
According to the company, the site’s operator chose to repair the existing racking rather than replace damaged uprights because OEM replacement components for the legacy system were difficult to source and carried long lead times.
Goliath said the repair programme would allow the warehouse to maintain storage capacity while avoiding the disruption associated with replacing complete uprights.
Emily Munslow, Goliath division lead, said sourcing replacement components for older racking systems had become increasingly challenging.
“Replacing individual uprights within a legacy XHD racking system isn’t simply a matter of ordering parts.
“The procurement lead times, costs, and operational downtime can dwarf the cost of the steel itself. We knew there had to be a better way.
“The XL Goliath was engineered specifically for these extra-heavy-duty environments where standard repair solutions fall short.”
The XL Goliath repair unit is manufactured from 6mm structural steel and is designed to be installed without hot works or specialist lifting equipment.
Goliath said installation averaged less than 30 minutes per upright and was carried out while the warehouse remained operational.
The company added that the repair system has been independently tested by Bureau Veritas against relevant SEMA codes of practice and British Standards for steel static storage systems.
